What is a strategic plan?
Strategic Plans are important tools that are built from public input and help people understand the County’s vision and the direction it is taking and why.
Our Journey
Clatsop County began its year-long strategic planning process in January 2020.
This collaborative effort engaged elected officials, staff, stakeholder groups, and the general public and was conducted in partnership with the Center for Public Service at Portland State University. The result is the County's new Strategic Plan, adopted by the County Board of Commissioners in January 2021.
In June 2022, the Board adopted the first annual update to Strategic Plan 2021, establishing priorities for FY 22-23 (July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023).
The most recent update, establishing priorities for FY 23-24 (July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024), was adopted by the Board in May 2023. See the section below ("FY 23-24 Priorities") for more information.
During our annual strategic planning process, the County Board of Commissioners establish new and/or continued priorities to carry out the County's mission in the upcoming fiscal year.
In May 2023, the Board adopted the annual update to Strategic Plan 2021, establishing priorities for FY 23-24 (July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024).
