On behalf of the Clatsop County Board of Commissioners, a total of $30,000 has been made available to be distributed to local not-for-profit social human services organizations that address Clatsop County community needs.
The Clatsop County Human Services Advisory Council will review grant applications and make recommendations to the Board based on the Board’s annual strategic planning goals.
The focus areas for the proposals are developmental disabilities, mental health, alcohol and drug prevention/treatment, or serving the unhoused. Preference will be given to programs that meet the following criteria:
- Program provides services that are available to county residents, of diverse backgrounds and geographic areas throughout the county.
- Organization works collaboratively with other organizations and actively seeks and receives significant portions of their funding from organizations other than the county.
- Addresses a need that is currently not being addressed by other organizations.
- Serves the largest number of those most in need socially or economically.
- Organization demonstrates the impact these funds will have and their ability to effectively operate and achieve the focused goal of the program being proposed with the funds that would be provided.
- If the organization has received funds previously through Clatsop County and how those funds were utilized.
Online applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31. To be eligible for consideration, the county online application must be completed. Grants will be awarded in Spring 2024.
If a proposal is recommended for consideration, the organization will be notified and advised of the date of the Board of Commissioners meeting. Recipients will be required to sign a grant agreement obligating the agency to carry out the program as described in the application.
The HSAC advises the Board on developmental disabilities, mental health and alcohol and drug abuse services.
The committee meets monthly to identify needs, establish priorities for publicly funded services and assist in selection of service providers, evaluate services and provide a link to the public through advocacy and education.
